Ability to download maps for use when adventuring

When out adventuring we often lose all cellular service and therefore navigation. Apple Maps allows you to download maps ahead of time and update them periodically when you have service. Since Apple CarPlay is off the table, it be nice to download areas with the built in nav for use when off the grid.

Interesting idea to have that option in the car. Off-roading is a good use case.
The feature is great in both Google maps and Apple Maps.
Would you envision using your phone to select and offline area - or the vehicle UI?
I think phone would be easier - maybe an added feature in the mobile route planner?

I was just thinking about this yesterday. I live in Idaho, and you don't have to go very far to be out of cell service. It would be so handy if you could select a region and have the truck download maps for that area. I did notice Spotify seems to do a good job of caching music you've listened to recently, but it would be helpful to also have the ability to download playlists as well for when you are out of cell service. In general, the truck needs to handle situations with no cell service better. It's an adventure truck, designed to for going places with no service.
