Hi Trevor, could you elaborate on which vehicles exactly are Gen 2? Thanks!
Trevor Mack
Rod Chavez R1 gen 2 was announced last week. These are what I'm referring to. Rivian publicly has mentioned that the new sensors that are in gen 2 (model year 2025) are needed for auto lane change functionality.

I'm so thankful for the automatic reengagement after a lane change, but never imagined that a feature specifically advertised as possible with future updates in late 2021 would still be AWOL two years later. Glad to see this is high up on other's lists!

The next software update includes a statement about lane departure auto resuming D+ features.
Allowing for a step towards this future ask. This specific feature in the changelog of 46.0 will allow the drive to signal, manually change lanes without disabling D+ and D+ upon centering in the new lane the D+ will kick back in and keep lane assistance in the new lane.

From Rivian Forums: Allow lane changes when using Driver+. In our Kia for instance, when using HDA, if you put on turn signal it’ll allow you to change lanes, then auto center to the new lane, all without having to turn anything off. This would be a great baby step to auto lane changes, which I know takes a lot more development.

Still patiently waiting for this. Its very frustrating to have to engage driver + each time I change lanes. My wife hates hearing the sound of the when I re-engage 20+ times each time we are on the highway

auto lane change in my Kia EV6 makes the lack of this in the R1T much harder to deal with. EV6 works with a soft push on the stalk (3 signal) then a slight nudge on the steering wheel. The car shifts lanes smoothly and recenters and adjusts speed seemlessly. It is sorely missed in the R1T
