Road curve speed adjustment needs to be smoother
complete
Sean Simkins
While on cruise or highway assist, the vehicle automatically reduces speed for road curves. This needs to be smoothed out, since the sudden speed reduction on a curve causes an abrupt change to the trajectory, resulting in a jerky, sudden, and alarming (especially when around other drivers) shift in speed and steering. This process needs to be an option to toggle on/off or needs to be smoothed out, both the throttle adjustment and the resulting steering adjustment to correct trajectory.

Rivian says this will continue to get better but I've seen improvements in Gen 2.

It needs the ability to be turned off or on.

I don't think it should automatically reduce speed unless there is a road sign to do so. It is dangerous and annoying. I've now memorized the locations where this occurs and add throttle to maintain speed so it does not slow.

I'm of the belief that it also slows down way more than needed. Interstate highway curves are almost always good for 65 or more.

Absolutely want to delete this feature. I travel a particular stretch of road often. If I set the cruise at 70, it slows to 60. For comparison, I take it manually at 80 with no problems. I like carving the twisties - let me do it on cruise control!

I agree 1000%, I am honestly not sure why it happens. My old car easily travelled through the same curves at 70 mph when the Rivian reduces the speed to 55mph despite having much more sophisticated handling and suspension. It's honestly pretty dangerous and makes the cruise control unusable.

And give us a way to just toggle it off and have it stay off until we toggle it back on.

Matthew Sun there's a setting to disable it altogether, right? Somewhere in settings->driver+ or so. Or maybe you mean something else?

Bjoern Json Is there? If so, I haven’t found it. I’m currently on vacation but will check when I get home.

Matthew Sun i looked for it but couldn't find it myself so i think you're correct!
